Paint Removal | Pavement Marking Removal Ultra-High Pressure (UHP) water is very effective in removing roadway and runway stripping and markings. The removal is performed using potable water only. No chemicals, which can be hazardous to the environment, are used. Following removal paint chips are vacuumed from the roadway surface. Paint removal is equally effective on concrete and asphalt. UHP water can remove paint trapped in the micro-texture of the concrete and asphalt surface as well as paint in the groves, tines and rumble strips without damage to these surfaces. UHP water has the ability to reach down in to the substrate and remove the paint. Even paint in rumble strips can be removed without damaging the audible surfaces.

Airfield Marking Removal There are typically three levels of cleaning or removal specified: Loose and Flaky: Loose and flaky is specified to remove any loose material and clean the existing markings in preparation for re-painting. This process is fast and while it does not remove adhered paint it will prepare the existing paint to allow it to bond to the new paint. 85-95% Removal: A more complete removal will be specified in areas where there has been a substantial paint build up and it is necessary to remove most of this paint. These areas will be repainted following the removal. The objective is to remove most but not all of the paint thus eliminating the need to re-layout the area to be painted. 100% Removal: Complete removal is specified in areas where the markings will not be reinstalled and the existing markings must be completely removed. 100% removal can be performed with virtually no damage to either asphalt of concrete surfaces provided these surfaces are in reasonably good condition. |
