The rubber removal hydro-cleaning system consists of an ultra-high pressure (UHP) water pump, operating at 36,000 psi and 16 gpm mounted on a truck which carries approximately 4,000 gallons of water. The UHP water is carried through special hoses to a 2-foot wide, 28 jet spray bar mounted in the blast head mounted on the front of the truck. The spray bar rotates at up to 2,000 rpm. The multiple jets and rotation of the spray bar uniformly applies the UHP water to the surface as the vehicle advances down the runway. Rubber is quickly removed at rates exceeding 20,000 sf per hour.
Immediately following the rubber removal, the runway is vacuumed cleaned using a standard vacuum-sweeper truck. Rubber debris can be transported to a designated location for disposal. Cleaning water is discharged at the edge of the runway where it is allowed to re-absorb into the ground. |
