History

Collage of the past.

In 1988, Flow International Corporation started building the X-pump for sale to hydrodemolition and hydrocleaning contractors. The only problem was that no one could afford the equipment or had the knowledge to run and maintain it. The company, Flow Services, was born out of a necessity to use a product that no one else could handle.

Around the same time, Flow International sold three X-pumps to a runway cleaning company called Rampart Waterblast Inc. operated out of Sarasota, Florida. Rampart Waterblast built three blasters with these X-pumps. Flow International maintained a financial interest in Rampart Waterblast Inc. through it’s 1990 transaction and in 91 took a controlling interest. Rampart Waterblast Inc. was made a division of Flow Services and both companies performed as general and subcontractor depending on the type of work involved. In the years leading up to 1997, the company started to transition away from general contracting work to avoid competing with customers.

1997 proved to be a year of transition for Flow Services. During this year, a change in ownership and separation from the parent company, Flow International, required a name change to Rampart Construction Services. The name Rampart had already been well established as a hydrodemolition and hydrocleaning authority, so the change made sense. This move also retired the "Waterblast Inc." part of name, while the runway cleaning continued to be part of the company’s services.

1998 marked the beginning of a new epoch for Rampart when Beth Newbold became sole owner of the company. A further refining of the company’s mission brought about the name that we know of today. With this name change to Rampart Hydro Services, the company divested itself from any last thoughts of general contracting and focused its efforts on being a specialty subcontractor.

In 2003, vacuum trucks were added to Rampart's fleet for cleanup and water control. Along with these trucks came the TracVac and all the attachments and improvements that have been made to improve cleanup, Dry-hydrodemolition and Dry-Membrane removal. During this past decade, Rampart has also created a plethora of specialty units, such as the Hydro Reach, the Squirt, the Tunnel Master, an underwater hydro unit, and the Surface Master.

Water treatment has been a part of the company's evolution going back as far as 1992, but 2007 signaled a significant commitment to water treatment. With the acquisition of the Alar unit, Rampart Hydro has also stepped closer towards water re-use. The evolution continues in 2008 as three brand new 6 cylinder tier 3 engines have been added to the Rampart fleet. The TX-04 will be the most efficient, powerful and clean burning unit in the fleet.

Innovation is a company core value which means that we are constantly looking for ways to improve equipment, safety, and procedures. Over the course of the last ten years, Rampart Hydro Services has become a full service hydrodemolition and hydrocleaning subcontractor. We are happy to celebrate 10 years as Rampart Hydro Services this year and twenty years of Ultra High Pressure cutting and cleaning.
