Containment of the water and debris from the demolition process was an environmental concern due to Virgin River’s protected status. As a solution for containment and cleanup, Rampart vacuumed the water and debris continuously during the hydrodemolition process. The dry hydrodemolition method made it possible to remove 1.5” of the class A and 3.0” of the class B, without any contaminants leaving the bridge decks. The results: no water or debris in the Virgin River, excellent preparation for the overlay and a no-hassle cleanup for the contractor.
