Virgin River Gorge, Littlefield, AZContractor: Coffman-Specialties, Phoenix, AZThe bridge decks repaired for this project are located over the Virgin River. Containment of the water and debris from the demolition process was an environmental concern due to Virgin River’s protected status. As a solution for containment and cleanup, Rampart vacuumed the water and debris continuously during the hydrodemolition process. The dry hydrodemolition method made it possible to remove 1.5” of the class A and 3.0” of the class B, without any contaminants leaving the bridge decks. The results: no water or debris in the Virgin River, excellent preparation for the overlay and a no-hassle cleanup for the contractor.
